GWC, a leading logistics provider in Qatar, has received the ISO 28000:2007 certification for supply chain security management systems from Lloyd’s Register at the company’s headquarters in Doha.

Celebrating this achievement, the company held a ceremony at the 25K Warehouse in the Logistics Village Qatar, its 1-million sq m fully integrated logistics hub, hosting auditors from Lloyd’s Register as well as members of its senior management and other employees.

GWC group CEO Ranjeev Menon said: “We are committed to provide best in class supply chain solutions to our clients while complying with the international standards, legal and other statutory requirements, creating new benchmarks in logistics and supply chain operations.”

“Our dedicated quality, health, safety, security, and environment (QHSSE) team ensures that our services remain the most reliable and secure in the industry, while keeping a high degree of responsiveness towards our clients’ needs,” he added.

The ISO 28000 certification covers the company’s freight forwarding, customs clearance, contract logistics, warehousing, transport, and distribution operations, and assures that GWC effectively identifies and manages the security of the supply chain, properly enforcing operational controls and security measures to eliminate or reduce risks at all levels of the organization for the company’s supply chain operations.

Ian Wilson, consultancy director for Lloyd’s Register, said: “It is always a privilege to present our certificates, which represent the hard work undertaken by both parties in the lead up to certification.”

“Awarding certification to ISO 28000, which shares our heritage in the maritime industry, to a valued long-term client reinforces this further,” he added.

To achieve this certification, the company submitted to several audits in the first weeks of December 2019. GWC offered the independent auditors from Lloyd’s Register the proper documentation, made themselves available to the site visits, as well as training 619 employees covered under the scope of standard, in order to be confirmed as compliant with this standard, it stated. – TradeArabia News Service
